Sport and Leisure Facilities

The Sports Centre located on the school site is operated jointly by the school and Newcastle Borough Council is open year-round, except at Christmas and New Year.

Kidsgrove Sport Centre works very closely with the The King's School Physical Education Department. As a result, learners can access a range of facilities to use in PE lessons. For example, all learners can use the 25m swimming pool as curriculum activities include swimming, water polo, personal survival and other related skills.

Facilities include a sports hall holding 5 badminton courts, 3 basketball courts (with one full court), a volleyball court, 5-a-side football and 2 cricket nets. It is a big space in which all learners can experience good to outstanding lessons.

There is also the Jack Beech Dance Studio. The studio is equipped with surround-sound music and mirrors for dance lessons. The room is also used for gymnastics, circuit training, spinning and interactive dance mats sessions.

At Key Stage 4, the PE Department allow learners access to the gym area. Here students can use both cardiovascular machines such as the treadmill, cross trainer, rowing machine and cycle bikes as well as weight machines to work on major muscles of the body.

Outstanding facilities such as those mentioned above, enable PE teachers to plan challenging and engaging PE lessons for BTEC (level 2 and 3), Sports Diploma courses, OCR GCSE PE & A Level lessons.
